BLS - Basic Life Support

Pre-Hospital (paramedics)
in-hospital healthcare workers (doctors, nurses, and allied personnel).

Course Content

The course covers international guidelines and the latest recommendations on:

CPR for adults, children, and infants, including the use of the BVM
Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Management of the obstructed airway
The course is accepted as a prerequisite for advanced courses in resuscitation, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Neonatal Life Support (ANLS), BLS and Local Instructor courses.

On registration, the candidate will receive a BLS for the HCP manual.

Certification

The candidate will be expected to achieve 84% on a written test. Upon completing the course, the candidate will be issued a BLS for Healthcare Providers card, valid for two years, and a CPD certificate for 11 points. The BLS for Healthcare Providers certificate is a pre-requisite for AHA Advanced Life Support courses.

5-6 hours
